Where can body fillers be used on the body?
Specific injection techniques vary by area and skin texture. To ensure optimal results, the product is hyper-diluted and is most commonly administered with a cannula. Using this technique limits needle sticks to minimize bruising and downtime while increasing safety, tolerance, and efficacy.
Areas commonly injected in our practice:
Earlobes: Aging, volume loss, weight of earrings and gravity cause earlobes to sag and the piercings to become stretched or enlarged. In most cases, this causes earrings to rest in ears incorrectly with downward projection. Body filler injections will restore the natural fullness and appearance of the earlobe.
Chest: Crepey skin and vertical wrinkling of the chest can be a common aspect of aging that begins in early 30s. Unfortunately, skin texture in this area is accentuated by larger breasts and sun damage. Body filler injections administered to this area will soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the décolleté.
Upper Arms: Sagging and laxity of the skin on the upper arms is a common area of concern as we age and after significant weight loss. Body fillers in this area will stimulate collagen production and correct the appearance of laxity resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Hands: Indicative of age, hands are a common area treated with body fillers. We can restore volume to the top of the hands resulting in less visible tendons and veins, giving a less sinewy appearance. Results expected to last two to three years.
Texture above the knees: A most common area of concern for our patients is crepey texture above the knees. Wrinkles and skin laxity above the knee and the lower thigh typically develop in our late 30s and early 40s. The use of body filler in this area can smooth and tighten the skin. Additionally, a series of targeted Cooltone treatments will assist in developing more defined quadriceps and reduce the appearance of aging in this area.
Buttocks: The buttocks can be a difficult area to tone and lift due to genetics or aging. Aside from weightlifting, there are options like Cooltone to help tone and firm the muscle. Body filler is an excellent, non-surgical treatment option to increase volume. Body filler is administered in the superficial layers of the buttocks lowering the risk of adverse side effects and allowing maximum projection in the desired area.
Cellulite: 90% of women have cellulite and more than half are uncomfortable with the appearance of dimpling cellulite causes. Qwo is a non-surgical, permanent, in-office procedure to remove unwanted cellulite. Once cellulite is removed, the remaining laxity and texture in the area can be improved with body filler for an overall smooth appearance.
The type of body filler and amount administered will depend on your area of concern and the desired result you would like to achieve. A complimentary consultation with one of our board-certified providers will allow us to discuss your goals, generate a quote, and recommend the appropriate treatment plan for optimal results.
What to expect from my body filler?
Some areas treated with body filler will have immediate results, such as earlobes and hands. Body fillers, such as Radiesse, have immediate results and continue to improve over time due to their bio-stimulatory properties. Other body fillers, such as Sculptra, can take multiple treatments to attain the desired result. Most patients require two or three sessions separated by one-month intervals allowing for optimal results and efficacy of product administered.
What are the possible side effects?
After receiving body filler injections, some patients have minor, temporary side effects at the site of injection. Common side effects may include:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Bruising (occasionally)
These side effects tend to subside within 7 to 14 days, if not sooner.
How long do body fillers last?
The longevity of body fillers is dependent on the product administered, the amount of body filler injected, and the body area receiving treatment. While most facial filler injectable results last 6 to 12 months, body fillers can last 2 to 5 years.
Do filler injections hurt?
We inject body filler using lidocaine and a cannula. A cannula is a blunt tipped “tube” that allows us to place body filler with minimal injections. Most people state a mild discomfort with treatment.
